What is filling?

It is a filling method used for various reasons and complaints. Filling is a different injection method from aesthetic surgery and offers many advantages.

Why is filler used?

Fillers are used to remove the appearance of wrinkles that occur or have occurred in the subcutaneous areas, or to achieve a plump and prominent appearance. Although there are many types, it is generally preferred because of these two reasons.

What types of fillers are there?

There are different types of fillers, depending on why the filler is preferred and where it is to be applied. These types are listed below.

Lip Fillers

There is more than one purpose for lip augmentation that is preferred by both sexes, regardless of whether they are men or women. These are: to make the lips fuller and more prominent, to correct the asymmetry of the lips (such as the upper lip being too thin and disproportionate in comparison to the lower lip), and to define the circumference of the lips. This method, which can be applied to anyone over the age of 18, who is not pregnant or breastfeeding, who does not have open wounds or herpes on the lips, is recommended to be carried out in a hygienic clinic, using appropriate equipment and by professionals (specialists).

Nose Fillers (non-surgical nose job)

Nose fillers, which takes an average of half an hour and does not require anaesthesia, has more than one purpose. These include eliminating the nasal bridge, eliminating the lack of contour in the nose, eliminating the sunken appearance in the nose, eliminating the asymmetrical appearance of the nose and lifting the tip of the nose.

It is often preferred because it is a painless injection that does not interfere with daily life. An anaesthetic cream is used to numb the area for a short time before the procedure and to minimise the pain of the needle. And the redness caused by the needle in the affected area disappears spontaneously within 24 hours. As the nose is an immobile part of the face, the permanence and longevity of the procedure takes a long time.

Nasolabial Filler

For reasons such as genetics, environmental factors and ageing, facial expressions can sometimes change to become more serious or sad. One of the main reasons for this is the change in the lines that run down from the nostrils to the edges of the lips.  This is where nasolabial filler comes in. This type of filler intervenes in this line from the nostrils to the lips, eliminating the existing fat loss in this area and eliminating the depression by adding volume. Unlike other fillers, the maximum amount of filler is not applied all at once, but in two separate sessions. The reason for this is to preserve the naturalness of the patient’s smile and facial expression.

The final result is visible two weeks after the procedure. The average duration of the nasolabial augmentation is 18 months. For the first week, hot showers, Turkish baths, sea, swimming pools and saunas should be avoided. Make-up and heavy sports should be avoided on the first day.

Under Eye Fillers

Conditions such as pitting, darkening and dark shading of the fatty tissue around the eyes occur for reasons such as age, environmental factors and genetic changes. In such cases, a single injection is often sufficient for under-eye light filling. The procedure is successfully performed using special injection techniques and blunt-tipped cannulas for bones.

Cheekbone Fillers

Cheekbone filling is a procedure used to treat volume loss in the cheekbones due to age, congenital deformities or trauma. The procedure is based on the principle of creating the desired appearance by injecting hyaluronic acid. It is a painless procedure with no side effects and the recovery period is completed in 1 week.

Temple Fillers (Temporalis Filling or Temple Augmentation)

This is the preferred method for deep wrinkles and folds that develop over time. It is a clinical method based on the injection of various fillers such as hyaluronic acid. It may take 3-4 days to achieve the desired appearance of the face. The procedure time is approximately 30 minutes and the permanence of the method is approximately 15 months.

Chin Fillers

Chin fillers method performed by specialists in the field has an average permanence of 1 year.  It is an effective method that can be applied to patients who have problems such as weak jaw line, weak jaw shape and soft tissue laxity after expert evaluation. When this method is applied by professionals, structural disorders in the jaw can be completely corrected.

What should be considered before having a filling?

Although filling procedures are simple aesthetic procedures, there are a number of things that should be considered before having them done. These are as below:

• Aspirin and similar blood thinners or herbal teas should be discontinued approximately 2 weeks prior to the procedure.
• If you have herpes in the lip area, you should avoid the procedure.
• It is not suitable to fill infected areas with open wounds or acne problems.

What should be considered after the filling procedure?

As before the filling procedure, there are a number of things that need to be taken into account after the procedure in order to ensure that the results are healthy and long-lasting.

• It is necessary to avoid the use of substances such as blood thinners and herbal teas for 2 weeks.
• It is necessary to keep the patient in an upright position for 1-2 hours after the procedure and to avoid heavy physical exertion on the first day after the procedure.
• After the procedure it is necessary to wait for about 1 week before applying any skin care products.
• Do not go swimming for at least 2 days after the procedure, do not use make-up or brushes.
• Avoid lying on your stomach for the first 4 hours after the procedure.
• Sunscreens and colourless pharmacy creams can be used after consultation with the doctor.

What are the advantages of fillings?

Cosmetic fillings are a method that many people prefer because they are easy to achieve. Because they are simpler than other procedures, they also have advantages. These are as below:

• Fillings do not require time off work, rest or hospitalisation.
• The effect and results of the procedure are immediately visible.
• As it usually takes half an hour on average, people can return to their daily lives immediately without losing any time.
• In addition to the removal of skin deformities, the filling procedure also has a therapeutic function and the skin is renewed by the injections.
